WTO Forecasts One Billion Tourists for 2012
The number of international tourists in the world increased by 4% in 2011 over the previous year, to 980 million, indicating that this year figures will reach one billion, according to the secretary general of the World Tourism Organization (WTO), Taleb Rifai.
In a recent interview with Spanish News Agency, Efe, Rifai defined 2011 as a “good year” for tourism, despite the difficulties and challenges faced by virtually all the economic sectors in the world, especially in Europe and North America.

The price of new housing fell 4% in 2011, according to the Sociedad de Tasación (Valuation Society), bringing the price to 2,376 euros per square metre, and making the cost of an average home around 213,840 euros.

Foreign investment in Spanish real estate surged more than 28% last year. In total, transactions amounted to more than 3,601 million euros, which is a significant rise compared to the slight increase of 2.6% in 2010, according to the Bank of Spain.
Nearly 50.000 million euros spent by international tourists 2011
International tourists visiting Spain spent more than 50 million euros last year, representing more than a 8.4% increase, according to figures from the Tourism Expenditure Survey (Egatur) from the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade published.

New incentives will make you hungry for Spanish property
It is barely three weeks since the Spanish Government announced they were slashing the Sales Tax on new properties in half from 8% to 4% and we are already seeing announcements from other parties adding their own incentives to stimulate property sales.
The Government’s tax cut on new properties announcement was unexpected and at the same time long overdue and last week we were made aware of two instances where the Developers on certain projects have said that they will pay the other 4% which means an incredible saving of 8% to the purchaser.
This combined with the fact that property prices are at an all time low means that once again interest is being rekindled in the Spanish property market.
